It's true that I'm doing what I love most and am best at.  Finally.  Took me a while, and I've had a really amazing an interesting career so far which spans several industries and quite a few years.  

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on why that combination of passion and experience make The Whiskey Porch truly an exceptional service provider in the design and consulting space.  What makes us unique here in Prescott, AZ?

So, why hire The Whiskey Porch??

​Why hire us, instead of just going direct to a contractor, or builder, or landscaping company or nursery?  Or instead of just using the "free" design services at various large retailers?  Or even instead of hiring an architect?

I've got 6 great reasons for you to consider.

1.  big picture, integrated perspective & skills

I have had decades of hands-on experience in both large and small home remodel projects (including complete gut renovations). 

I am a master gardener and landscape designer.  Been doing all this since I was a kiddo.

I'm extremely hands on in doing much of the work myself - I dig the holes, I work with the subs.  I understand how a home is built and can talk the talk. 

I am also an artist and have owned an art gallery in downtown Tempe AZ. 

Oh, and my experience over 28 years in Silicone Valley and the National Football League as a finance executive means I can handle complex and detailed projects with a long term view as well as the financial and budget elements with ease.

Additionally, we are committed to staying small and working very closely with our clients.  We are most interested in quality of service and the final result than we are in running multiple jobs at once and scaling our business.

The designs, recommendations, and services we provide are 100% focused on meeting YOUR needs and making you satisfied with the final result -- completely independent of any conflicting interests.

We don't sell plants, or furnishings, or offer maintenance or installation services.  We don't earn commissions off of referrals. 

​We have absolutely nothing to gain by the size or stature of your project.  We are motivated by meeting your needs whatever those might be. 

Smaller projects get the same exceptional service that large and complex ones do.

​4.  We will save you money, and protect your roi

While the complexity or size of your project may increase the overall investment, our designs will prioritize budget considerations and limitations if that is an issue for you.  The investment you make in our services will be quickly recouped in overall project cost savings, usually many times over.  Better and more cohesive designs, with more creative solutions are your biggest asset in putting together an efficient and well thought out project that is more manageable, and affordable. 

​It's much easier (and far less expensive) to make pivots or adjustments in a design plan drawing than it is after a project has already begun.  

In many, many cases you don't need to invest in an architect.  There are, of course situations where it's not up for discussion.  But architects are hard to find in our community.  They are often booked out for 6-9 months at least these days.  And, their skill set is often not appropriate and is usually vastly more expensive.

Our integrity and creativity will allow us to  help you think through the priorities and ROI (Return on Investment) of your investments and come up with out-of-the-box solutions.

Design and building and landscaping has been a part of my life since... my fort building days in Sweden!  My energy and passion to make spaces more beautiful and functional has been refined over many decades of practical, hands-on experience.  I've made so many silly (and stupid) mistakes over the decades.  That means you get the benefit of those hard learned lessons.  And I've transformed countless homes and landscapes over the decades into one-of-a-kind gems.  This is truly a labor of love.

We are exceptional at what we do. 

Often success leads to more... success.  And more opportunity.  And a small business becomes much larger, where the original owner is no longer close to the true work.  That's not the case here.  Small is good.  Hands-on is perfect.  We like it that way. 

I am not only involved in all the initial discussions but I do all the design work myself, and obsess over every detail throughout each project.  The Whiskey Porch is a woman-owned and operated business, focusing only on our beautiful community of Prescott, AZ where we plan to stay for the long-haul.  ​
