Swedes have a few lifestyle concepts that might be part of the reason they are often considered one of the happiest places to live. This post is just a little introduction to "lagom".
Lagom is all about living in moderation. Finding a balance ... in life, at work, in your finances, and certainly with the size of your home. Thinking about the "whole" and not just the "self".
To be fair, this is an idea that's been hyped and also can be, ironically, overdone. But at it's core I think it has a lot to offer our American overly excessive way of life, if applied in a thoughtful way.

Apply it to everything or anything that suits you but consider how you can find that sweet spot where you feel good and at peace about your choices and avoid extremes that push you out of balance.
You might decide to just truly enjoy a luxurious meal or treat, and not feel bad or guilty, as long as it doesn't completely throw your health and well-being out of whack. Just do it. And when you do, enjoy it to it's fullest. But maybe don't do that every single day.
Or what about living in a home that's smaller than most but big enough for you - everybody's lagom is going to be unique and most likely *not* on trend. And that's liberating beyond measure.
