Porches of prescott - red door porch

Spring in Prescott means that we are running a few local porch features to share some inspiration and sweet sittin' spot ideas.

It's not about being perfect, or impressive or huge, but an authentic and lived-in porch that makes it feature-worthy.

Red Door Porch

Our May feature is a perfectly symmetrical, small covered front porch of an older downtown cottage.

While the porch itself is completely symmetrical and centered on the front of the house, there's a couple interesting details that give it a little movement.

Because there is a small ornamental plum tree on the left hand side, there's  little bit of screening from the street there and a bit more privacy for the seating arranged there.  And the brick walkway from the front gate curves off to the right (for access to the side yard).

Originally, those two iron handrails would not have been there, which would have given it a little more of an open feeling.

The color scheme is kept clean and simple with the butter yellow on the stucco and then the rusty red color repeated in the brick, the front door, and the wicker furniture.
