Every spring I like to run a few local porch features to share some inspiration and a ton of the coolness from our neighbors' favorite sittin' spots.

Although it's spring here, we have some pretty wild swings from day to day and week to week.  That's the nature of spring in the high country of Arizona.

Mint & cream porch

Our April feature is a classic, small, corner porch on a downtown cottage.

This one is small in square footage, but still has quite a presence and creates a formal and functional entrance to the home.
​

Some of the interesting details on this porch include, of course, those columns, as well as the old clinker brick, wide stairs. 

And the original front door is pretty amazing, although unfortunately it's a bit hard to see with the newer screen door covering it.  The transom window above the front door is how they would have added some airflow originally.

The post box on the wall is appropriate, although I'm guessing it's not original.

From this side, our favorite element of the porch is this cozy tucked away corner of the porch which looks like it includes a small love seat or bench. 

​What makes this corner so lovely is the way it catches the late afternoon light here, as well as the beautiful small leaded glass window on the wall.  

There's not a lot of space on this porch, but it is plenty to take an evening break with a nice glass of wine and just watch the world go by.
