Every autumn we do a monthly cottage feature, to share with you the wonderful local inspiration of other homeowners in the Prescott, Arizona area. #cottagesofprescott For September, we are starting with a sweet downtown cottage. ~ post continues, click Read More ~ This little cottage sits at the top of a steep hill, facing east. It was built in the early to mid 1940's and the original floors and cabinetry are still in use in the kitchen. The kitchen has a unique corner window that opens up the small room and brings in the morning light. The owner recently bought this home and is beginning to make improvements, starting with the not-so-fun stuff like heating/cooling, and plumbing which were neglected for many years. She has plans for a lovely garden and adding a slightly larger front porch with a gable roof. The cottage is around 800 square feet and features a large sunroom on the north side with expansive windows. The owner thinks that this space was originally a covered porch and was enclosed at some point. There are a few mysteries that remain like why there is a chimney on the roof, but no fireplace in the home. The owner says that it must be hidden behind a wall - why it was covered up she doesn't know, but the plan is to open it back up and get it working. |
